Colonie qui ressemble à une chenille translucide, gélatineuse et velue :
- Taille de 20 à 40 mm de longueur,
- Couleur blanc cassé à jaune clair,
- 2 à 3 rangées de zoïdes,
- Couronne de lophophore en forme de fer à cheval.
Les colonies se déplacent lentement (quelques cm/jour, surtout les jeunes colonies).
Visibles au Printemps et en Eté.
