Plante herbacée du bord des eaux qui forme des touffes séparées : - Taille de 0,6 m à 1,5 m, - Tige cylindrique, raide et dressée, - Feuilles engainant la tige, raides et très longues, - Fleurs à six pétales de couleur violette-rose à veines foncées et disposées en ombrelle terminale. Floraison de Juin à Septembre.

Biotope / Habitat

Lieux humides (roselières, eaux stagnantes ou faiblement courantes, lieux marécageux, ..).

Distribution

Eurasie tempérée (absente en Corse). Introduite en Amérique du Nord, elle est considérée envahissante
