Scardinius erythrophthalmus (Linnaeus, 1758)

Le rotengle est un poisson d'eau douce caractérisé par des yeux et des nageoires de couleur rougeâtres qui le distinguent aisément d'autres espèces similaires. Sa bouche terminale est orientée vers le haut, une particularité qui reflète son comportement alimentaire en surface. Ses nageoires ventrales, quant à elles, sont positionnées plus en avant que sa nageoire dorsale, conférant à son corps une silhouette légèrement arquée. Son apparence générale est marquée par une teinte argentée éclatante : son dos est gris et présente des reflets bleutés, tandis que ses flancs arborent des nuances argentées et brillantes, la partie ventrale est blanche. Ce poisson peut atteindre une taille moyenne d'environ 30 cm, avec des spécimens exceptionnellement plus grands.
