Taille : 20 à 25cm jusqu'à 30 cm de haut Couleur : rouge sombre à clair Aspect : disque large pour la fixation de l'algue, départ d'axes cylindriques avec peu de ramifications, puis vers les extrémités rameaux aplatis et de plus en plus ramifiés donnant une forme buissonnante (ramifications irrégulières)

Possible confusions

Plocamium cartilagineux : ramifications dans un plan et extrémités en forme de peigne Phyllophora herediae : thalle plus aplati et ramifications plus organisées
