On le dit encroûtant car c'est un épibionte, principalement sur les gorgones en Méditerranée mais pas en Atlantique (colonie en forme de touffes) Couleur rouge-rose voire blanc-jaune, rose pâle en Atlantique Petits polypes blancs-jaune (jusqu'à 5mm)

Possible confusions

Sarcodictyon catenatum plus gélatineux au touché et donc le substrat est généralement rocheux , habituellement rouge , quelque fois jaunâtre ou incolore, Méditerranée Occidentale et Atlantique Nord Est.
