PlantsErect thalli

Lames aplaties rouges à rosées, brillantes, cartilagineuses, portées par un stipe court, à divisions sub-dichotomiques, aux extrémités arrondies ou d'aspect irrégulièrement pointu. Les lames portent parfois des proliférations marginales conférant à cette algue un aspect étagé. Hauteur totale de 10 à 15 cm.

Possible confusions

Algues rouges foliacées, notamment les espèces des genres Phyllophora et Schottera

Biotope / Habitat

Algue sciaphile pérennante, sur substrats rocheux, sous les surplombs, dans les fentes rocheuses, les cuvettes ombragées ou épiphyte des stipes de laminaires.
