Ver plat panthère

Discocelis tigrina (Blanchard, 1847)

- Ver plat allongé de 30 à 40 mm et large de 15 à 25 mm. Les extrémités du corps antérieure et postérieure sont arrondies. - La face dorsale est de couleur beige et ponctuée de très nombreuses taches de couleur marron à brune et de taille variable. Le bord du corps est plus clair et légèrement ondulé. La partie centrale du corps présente deux épaisse bandes plus claires au centre desquelles les ponctuations sont plus denses. - La face ventrale est de couleur blanchâtre. - L'avant présente deux taches oculaires (nombreux petits points noirs) proéminentes (absence de tentacules). - Il est possible de rencontrer l'animal à l'intérieur d'une gaine muqueuse auto secrétée

Possible confusions

La confusion la plus probable est avec les PLANAIRES TRÉMELLÉES Leptoplana tremellarisdont le corps marron ne présente pas de tâches.

Biotope / Habitat

L'animal vit à faible profondeur jusqu'à 20 mètres. il est observable sur un estran sous les pierres ou galets. Il est visible à proximité des parcs ostréicoles dans la mesure où il est probable qu'il existe une relation prédateur/proie avec l'huître creuse Magallana gigas
