Taille : 30 cm Couleur : 5-7 bandes verticales marron-noires sur une base blanche, point bleu caractéristique au niveau du ventre, tête dessinée en teintes rouge et bleue, nageoires jaunes Forme allongée, tête pointue, bouche fendue (ressemble à celle du Mérou) Observation : c'est un poisson solitaire, quand on voit plusieurs Serran écriture organisés autour d'une faille, il se peut qu'ils chassent à plusieurs le Poulpe commun Hermaphrodite synchrone

Serran chevrette qui est plus petit et a une couleur de base rouge avec plus de bandes et pas de tâche bleu
