Remarkable

La couleur de la saupe est gris jaune à verdâtre pour une taille de 30-35 cm, rarement 50 cm. Le corps est ovale et comprimé latéralement avec 10 à 12 fines lignes longitudinales jaunes ou dorées sur toute la longueur du corps. Petite tache noire à la base des pectorales. L'oeil est jaune.

Biotope / Habitat

Les saupes vivent en bancs au-dessus de l'herbier de posidonie ou des zones riches en algues de la surface à 20 mètres de profondeur.
