Laminaria hyperborea (Gunnerus) Foslie, 1884

PlantsAlgaePhaeophyceae (Brown algae)

Laminaire mesurant jusqu'à 3,5 m de long, au stipe cylindrique long et rigide, fortement colonisé par des épibiontes et des épiphytes, fixée à la roche par un solide crampon griffu. La fronde se divise en lames linéaires de texture dure et lisse et de couleur brun-rougeâtre.

Possible confusions

Laminaire digitée Laminaria digitata : possède un stipe souple et lisse. Laminaire jaune Laminaria ochroleuca : possède un stipe rigide mais lisse et une zone jaune plus ou moins marquée à la base de la lame.

Biotope / Habitat

Habitats rocheux, du bas de l'estran à une trentaine de mètres de profondeur. Cette espèce peut former des ceintures très denses dans l'espace infralittoral.

Distribution

Atlantique NE, du sud du Portugal au nord de la Scandinavie, Manche, Mer du Nord, Islande, Atlantique NW.
